Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 6, 2026

Introduction

EasierBudget is an envelope budgeting app operated from Australia. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and what we do with it. It complies with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

Because EasierBudget saves your data across devices, you need an account with a valid email address. We cannot provide the service anonymously.

What We Collect

Account Information

  • Email address — to identify your account
  • Password — stored hashed; we cannot read it

Budgeting Data

The bill names, amounts, due dates, pay schedule, envelope names, timezone, and currency you enter to use the app. We never collect bank account details, credit card numbers, or connect to your financial institutions.

Technical Data

Your IP address and browser/device type are collected automatically for security and to keep you logged in. We use essential session cookies only — no advertising or tracking cookies.

Face ID / Biometric Authentication

If you enable Face ID or Touch ID, your biometric data is handled entirely by your device. We never see, receive, or store it.

What We Don't Collect

  • Bank or credit card details
  • Advertising or tracking cookies
  • Government identifiers (TFN, Medicare, etc.)

We don't sell your data, use it for direct marketing, or build advertising profiles.

How We Use Your Information

  • Provide the budgeting service
  • Send notifications you've opted into (bill reminders, payday alerts)
  • Send account notices (password resets, security alerts)
  • Monitor and improve app performance

Savings Suggestions

If you opt in, we may show you suggestions from other companies that could save you money based on your bills. For example, if you have a phone bill, you might see a cheaper plan suggestion.

These suggestions are based on de-identified, general information only. We never share your name, email, bill amounts, or any other personal details with advertisers. This feature is off by default and only activates with your explicit consent.

Third-Party Services

We use a small number of services to run EasierBudget. Your budgeting data (bill names, amounts, pay schedules, etc.) is not shared with any of them.

  • Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google, US) — delivers push notifications to your device
  • RevenueCat (US) — manages subscriptions and purchases
  • Cloudflare (US) — website security and privacy-focused analytics (no cookies, no personal data). Cloudflare RUM is disabled for EU users in compliance with GDPR.
  • Gravatar (US) — profile pictures, using a hashed version of your email address

Your account and budgeting data is stored on servers in Australia. The services above are based in the United States and only receive the minimum information needed to function.

Data Security

All data is encrypted in transit (SSL/TLS). Passwords are hashed and cannot be read by anyone, including us. No system is 100% secure — if we become aware of a data breach affecting your information, we will notify you promptly.

Data Retention

We keep your data while your account is active. If you delete your account, all your data is removed within 7 days.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access your personal information
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your account and all associated data
  • Opt out of non-essential communications
  • Lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) if you believe your privacy has been breached

To make a request, email [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days.

Children

EasierBudget is not intended for children under 16. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to This Policy

If we make significant changes, we will notify you through the app or by email.
